Who you report to: Manager, Software Development, Switcher Field Services

What the job is all about:

 

  • Design and implement features or fixes in support of customer field issues
  • Develop, code, test, and debug system software
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams and PV on solutions that provide fast results for customers
  • Represent Switcher Engineering to Ross Tech Support
  • Occasional travel to customer sites

 

 

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or relevant experience
  • Proven experience in software engineering
  • Proficiency in C++.
  • Good understanding of the linux command line utilities.
  • Ability to use debugging tools such as GDB.
  • Experience using profiling tools such as Valgrind, Wireshark.
  • Familiarity with various Linux distributions, such as Yocto, Ubuntu, Buildroot.
  • Hands-on experience developing and testing solutions for complex systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Superior customer demeaner
  • Self-motivated, high initiative
  • Maintain a valid passport and drivers license. Able to travel on short notice. Be able to travel to most countries in the world, but in particular USA and countries in Europe and South America
  • Proximity to our Ottawa R&D facility to access our Switcher field services lab as needed
  • Understanding and/or prior experience with multimedia frameworks such as gstreamer, ffmpeg is a plus.
