The successful candidate will contribute to the enhancement the Hyperconverged Systems Control group’s development and system test capabilities by providing dedicated product, system and exploratory testing for a rapidly growing and expanding live production control system adaptable for use in workflows ranging from traditional broadcast studios to highly scalable IP based facilities, with particular emphasis on the growing field of Video-over-IP, streaming and cloud-based productions.

What the job is all about:

  • Maintain, develop, and staff the Hyperconverged Systems Development Lab Test systems.
  • Participation in the product development process with continual feedback on product usability and design testability.
  • Design and implementation of custom testing solutions.
  • Development and maintenance of test plans and cases including test scripts for automated test.
  • Regular test execution and reporting of progress and bugs.
  • Assisting in investigation and reproduction of product and customer issues.
  • Participation in the maintenance, management and expansion of system lab environments.
  • Third party equipment integration into the system and automated test suite.
  • Other related duties as required

 

Who you are:

  • Technical or IT related education or 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Strong test, analysis, debug, and diagnosis experience with broadcast equipment
  • Familiar with all aspects of broadcast system setup, installation, and test, including IP networking concepts and equipment
  • Background in programming, scripting languages (e.g. Python), and databases is favored
  • Familiarity with PV tools, bug tracking systems and test plan and schedule development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio
  • Able to take complex technical details and convey the info in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and quick learner with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work co-operatively with and across all company departments
  • Other experience, desirable skills or areas of interest, considered a plus:
    • Unix/Linux command line tools
    • Experience with Video-over IP Control systems and adjacent technologies including:
      • NMOS IS-04, IS-05, IS-08, IS-10
      • NDI, SRT, Dante, ST-2110, SMPTE 2022-6, 2022-7
      • PTP, mDNS
    • Strong foundation in IP networking concepts and techniques, such as
      • IP Addressing, Multicast streams
      • Network Switch configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and operation.
      • Cloud-to-Ground / Ground-to-Cloud Video-over-IP applications
    • Live production or Broadcast industry experience or knowledge of relevant workflows, standards, and practices
